O.G.ONE’s theory on Dee-jaying: I love the art of dee-jaying, because it allows me to be like a therapist for the people who just want to come and check all of their worries in at the door and come into a world that has no burdens. I’m at my best when people are in the room…. even if it’s one person, because it allows me to connect with whatever state of mind or emotion they’re in. I get asked a lot about my playlist and even though I major in Hip Hop, R&B, Funk, Soul and Oldschool Music, I never know what I’m going to play, because it’s the people that dictate the way that I play. Body movements, vibes, like catching a wave, but once I’ve caught the wave, then I go hard with it until the wave changes. What worked the day before, might not work the next day, so I love being in the thick of it all and having to really get in tune with people.
When O.G.ONE is not spinning records, he’s active in the community, mentoring youth and giving back. He’s thrown numerous community events ranging from high school fundraisers all the way to throwing parties at City Hall with the mayor in promoting entrepreneurship and unity amongst djz, artists, promoters and new business owners.
The next level for O.G.ONE is to now branch out in the international markets to dj as well as leveraging his dj skills and community experience to speak to youth around the country about positive choices and making a difference.
